Elephants!

Today was filled with elephants for Buddy. Another day this week we got out his Little People zoo set and picked out the land animals. We just had fun with these. My focus was that he would be able to see which ones lived on land and which ones lived in water. I also wanted him to have a small idea of what they ate.
We made their noises and introduced some new vocabulary; carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore. We said these names in silly voices. I have seen that when you say the hard words in silly voices it helps them stick better and of course saying them over and over and over again.
For the Spielgaben elephant you need to tape a lot of cubes together and then some triangles. So my beloved made the body and mane and just had Buddy put together the trunk. I wanted him to come away with elephants have long noses and two eyes.

Buddy loved trying to put the nose together. Then I asked him where should we put the nose?
He worked really hard at this part. I put the Little People elephant next to his to show him where it should go.
He put the eyes on too...he was slightly obsessed with pulling them on and off but we really got to work on, one...two the elephant has two eyes; like us!
We feed him green dots from the set because he eats plants -herbivore!
We also used his trunk to give him drinks of blue water. I am happy to reinforce colors at any time ;)
These are the books we read for elephants.

Thanks for joining us today and hopefully next week you will get a peek at what the older girls have been doing with Spielgaben.
