So today I thought I would give you a little peek into our schooling room.
We painted a white board onto our wall and trimmed it with some spray painted wood. It does not work the best. I have to use spay every time to wipe off when I write on it. But I really do like how big it is and would do it again if I had the choice.
This is the wall right next to the one with the white board on it. This is painted with the magnet paint. Again it was not the best. We had to buy two cans to do the job, but I do use it and like it now. It won't hold cheap magnets or really heavy magnets. I use it for our Classical Conversations timeline cards and also for reading. Sometimes we will use magnet letters and slide them together to make the new words we are learning to read.
Here are our desks. They face the white board wall. I hope to replace these desk this Spring. They are connected and slanted and I do not like them ;-) We made do with them this year but I will be glad to be done with them. Roo is taking a reading test here. Have you heard of the free program BookAdventure.com ? Its a great reading comprehension site!!! Check it ou!
This is the wall that the desk are up against. It has some of our English posters. My mom is great a handwriting, so she made all the good looking ones.
This is the wall across from the desks. It is a shower curtain. But it makes a great map and with Classical Conversations they learn a lot of geography. Sometimes Roo would use a dry erase and do her map work on here.
On the back wall, we have our calendar which you have seen and our sight words. As Doodle learns them we put them up. Someday we should have a lot. ( I didn't do this with Roo)
This is where we keep our money poem and my little book shelf that helps me stay organized. Also we have our laps poster. On Fridays the girls do gym class with a friend in the basement with a retired gym teacher. They get these cute little shoes on their names when they do so many laps.
What does your school room look like? What could I add to improve ours?
