Art Show

So this little activity was born after reading the book: Fancy Nancy Aspiring Artist  by Jane O'Connor.
We love Fancy Nancy and we love to draw, so last year we decided to have an art show of our own.
My husband is amazing and hangs all their art on strings and on walls throughout the kitchen and great room. He even stands the table on end to display their art.
We studied many great artists during our time at Classical Conversations (Roo's homeschool group that she goes to once a week. Its a great program check it out or get one started near you!) So we replicated some of those ideas at home with the other two girls. I wrote small statements about the artists we studied and hung them up near the art. With these art pieces we tried to do the painting like the artist. For example for the Monet we tried to use large brush strokes and dots.
We also had a lot of art they completed just for fun.

We also had hor d'Oeuvres for our lovely guests.

KK enjoying art while eating.

Our favorite Papa was very interested to hear about their art work.

We were so blessed to have a guest over 6hrs away join us! YAY for Grandpa!!

Enjoying some pre-show treats.
After we had all eaten, the girls took different groups of people around and explained their art and discussed it with them.
This year we only had family, but in the past we have had others join us as well.
One or our pieces was Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. Before painting our pieces, I had each girl make one out of Spielgaben.

May you be inspired to let your child's artistic side come to life...as messy and crazy as it may be ;-)
